And the Winner Is...

Actually, there was no suspense at all in that.  Everyone knew who the winner was even before the week began.  Foxon turned in yet another one of his masterful performances, and even trainers like Dragnil and Knightmare who had beaten him in the past weren't able to keep up this time.  So a quick, but sincere congratulations to Foxon.  Well done!

 

Of course, it was the race for second which had everyone wagering and speculating and anticipating eagerly.  Going into this week the race was very close, with two points separating OKDavid's Sassafras and Dragnil's Safbred stable.   The contest just couldn't get any closer.

 

Except, almost unbelievably, it did.  As the results were announced, there was a gasp from the trainers assembled.  At the end of the day, there was a one point difference between the two stables.  Dragnil's Safbred stable finished second and OKDavid's Sassafras was third, 79 points to 78 points.

 

"You know, it's almost too bad.  If only we could have worked out a tie," Dragnil said thoughtfully.  "Oh, who am I kidding?  Winning by a short head or a nose is still winning, or in this case I guess it's really coming in second.  In any case, I'm thrilled!"
