To make the list as a Moderate Turf Influence, each stallion had to have at least 50% of its earnings from turf according to the Sim sire stats at the time I looked them up. To make the list as a Strong Turf Influence, the sire had to have at least 60% of its earnings from turf. Sire stats (as opposed to Dam's Sire) were used in most cases.
Some horses were left off the list in spite of being well regarded turf sires. Danzig is a prime example. He produced many top turf horses through the years as a sire, and is the dam's sire of many more. But in the game, he gets only around 40% of his earnings from turf. Another oddity is that Nureyev is only a "moderate" turf influence. It's just the way the numbers work out, and probably has more to do with how these horses are used by players than how well they pass on turf ability. But it still means that Danzig doesn't make the list.
This list is not comprehensive or definitive. There are many good turf sires that are not listed at all. If you notice one of these omissions, contact me at: alpineturfclub@yahoo.com
PLEASE NOTE: Availability simply means that there is a number under this heading when the sire is looked up on the horse ticker. You may not always be able to use a sire in a position that is listed as available here. Also country tags are included and excluded at random. It's probably best to look up the sire without the tag, in case I've done it wrong.
Also, this list is intended solely as a breeding guide for those playing the Simulated Sports horse racing game at derbyfever.com. Real world statistics were not even considered in compiling the list, and any resemblance to reality will be testimony to Mike's genius.
